Every year, 700 children are followed in palliative care: a subject that is still difficult to discuss.

Despite the growing number of studies showing that palliative care improves patients’ quality of life, the Federal Public Service in charge of evaluating palliative care notes in its 2017 report that Belgium remains one of the European leaders in hospitalization in the last months of life. As a result, deaths occur in hospitals when a large majority of patients want to pass away at home.
