Elderly and very elderly people are increasingly finding their way to palliative care. However, it is still far too limited in hospitals.
Of all those over 65 who do not die suddenly, only 39 per cent received palliative care in 2005. Some ten years later, in 2014, this figure has risen to 63 per cent. The over-85s are also increasingly finding their way to this end-of-life care.
